Altitude: 200-297m
Soil: Sandy loan on clay; weathered sandstone with high organic content
Yield: 5 tons per hectare (35hl/ha)
VINIFICATION
Maceration: Minimal skin contact of up to 4 hours; gentle pressing from selected vineyards combined with bleeding off 10% juice from premium red cultivars
Fermentation temp: 15°C
Malolactic fermentation: none
MATURATION
This Hermanuspietersfontein Bloos is fermented and matured with French oak chips for 4-6 weeks; further maturation on secondary lees for 1-3 months and monthly lees stirring
In bottle pre-release: 1 month
Ageing potential: 1 to 2 years
TASTING NOTES
Alcohol: ± 13.0% Vol
Appearance: Salmon pink with coral blue shading
Aroma: Strawberries and cream, fresh red fruit
Palate: Supple and round, freshness, complex
Pairing: goes as well with a summer day as it does with charcuterie, salads, light pastas, fresh fruit, or cold appetisers such as potato or pasta salads.
