JAN HARMSGAT PINOTAGE 2016
This Pinotage is a single-block wine, from the smallest production unit for vineyards that may not exceed six hectares per variety. Jan Harmsgat Farm or JHG, is situated on the most southern tip of the Robertson Wine valley along the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. Our Farm’s unique position borders both the dry climate of the Little Karoo as well as the Mediterranean cool sea breezes from the Coastal Regions. The direction of planting runs east to west.
The vinification process is conducted with minimal interference, using spontaneous fermentation and zero enzymes, thus sediment may occur. Highlighting our vineyard’s unique characteristics, maturation takes place in neutral vessels. Wood maturation: 12 months, 225L French oak, 90% (4th fill) and 10% (2nd fill).
