The name, Leipzig, is from the German “city of music”, where the forefathers of this estate stem from. The section of land that is now known as Leipzig was originally bought by Mrs Alida Smit, who was born on the neighbouring farm. The youngest daughter of Alida and Francois Smit, Alida Bester runs the farm today. Alida Bester, along with her husband, Vian, maintain a truly lovely wine venue. Vian, who explained the history of the farm and their wines while we tasted them was an absolute pleasure to meet.
